Training for Circular Economy in the Construction and Furniture Sectors

Six European startups with innovative projects in circular economy compete for the Green Alley Award 2018

The Green Alley Award 2018 already has finalists. Landbell Group, the parent company of ERP, has published the list of finalists consisting of a total of six startups from different European countries, whose projects in the areas of sustainable materials development, waste prevention or digital tools for the circular economy have convinced the jury.
The winning project of the Green Alley Award 2018 will be announced on 18 October in Berlin.

The six finalists, from Germany, the UK, Italy, the Netherlands, Austria and the Czech Republic, presented innovative ideas for the food industry, alternative materials and biodegradable packaging, among others.
Winning Proposals
The six finalist projects are detailed below:
– Superseven (Germany): Uses the Repaq brand to develop fully biodegradable packaging solutions that can compete technically with plastic packaging. Its packaging film is made from cellulose and can be used, once discarded, as compost in homes and gardens, according to TÜV certification.
– Refurbed (Austria): Its experts repair and rebuild used electrical and electronic devices. Thus, these devices, which would otherwise be recycled in parts, can be reused, at a 40 % lower cost to users.
– MIWA (Czech Republic): Minimum Waste is the target and brand of this start-up, whose newly developed technology allows food distributors and consumers to buy and sell without using packaging.
– Ecoplasteam (Italy): The EcoAllene solution solves the difficulty of separating mixtures of materials, such as waste composed of a metal and plastic layer. Instead of using complex processes to separate these components, Ecoplasteam’s patented production process creates a new versatile material that can be used for clothing, paving stones or household items.
– Circular IQ (Netherlands): An application that collects and accumulates data along the supply chain, from the source of resources to the supplier’s contracts. This enables companies to monitor and optimise the sustainability of their products, thereby providing transparency to customers and buyers.
– Aeropowder (UK): Has developed an alternative insulating material for packaging. This environmentally friendly and sustainable product is made from recycled materials that can be used to replace conventional insulating polystyrene boxes.
The winner, who will receive a prize of 25,000 euros, will be chosen during a presentation of the projects to be held on 18 October at the Haus Ungarn in Berlin.
