A new way of making commercially-worthless ceramic tiles profitable

Spain has an excess annual stock of more than 7 million m2 of tiles.

The LifeCersuds project offers an alternative solution to the tile industry’s stockpile problem – by reusing low-value commercial tiles to produce a new, more marketable product.
In order to work out whether LifeCersuds’ proposal really could be a successful new business model, we had to find out how much low-value stock is currently held by the tile industry, which could be processed and sold with increased value.
Our study shows how much stockpiled material in Spain, Italy and Portugal is suitable for use in the LifeCersuds proposed drainage system.
