ITC, with the Cer-OH! Strategies project, promotes the reduction of CO2 emissions in ceramics

The CerOh! Strategies project, which is being developed by the Instituto de Tecnología Cerámica (ITC) thanks to the support of the Instituto Valenciano de Competitividad Empresarial (IVACE) through the European ERDF Regional Development Funds, aims to study and propose to the ceramic sector a series of strategies based on the circular economy so that the ceramic tile manufacturing industry can adapt to the hypocarbon scenario proposed by the European Commission for 2050.
According to ITC sources, the idea is: „to achieve a drastic reduction in CO2 emissions, which is why we at the Institute are going to propose strategies for optimising the processes and products currently being developed, while, on the other hand, we will propose alternatives based on new production processes and new products“. To achieve all this, we will carry out an environmental impact assessment using Life Cycle Analysis, making cost calculations in all areas where possible”.
In addition, from the project: CER-OH! Strategies, and given that the ceramic industry is immersed in a process of adaptation to the concepts of industry 4.0, the feasibility of the implementation of the proposed alternative processes will be verified.
