The gift for fostering a more circular economy

The Council and Parliament of the European Union reached provisional agreement on the new EU waste rules on December 18th 2017 announced in the press release 816/17 Environment.
The „gift“ just before Christmas brings binding waste reduction targets and updated rules to decrease waste generation, ensure a better control of waste management, encourage the reuse of products and improve recycling in all EU countries.
These new targets and rules will promote a more circular economy. It will also boost growth and jobs, protect our environment, encourage sustainability and improve people’s health and well-being. Extended producer responsibility and stricter requirements should enforce waste prevention, separate collection and re-use.
