AEICE promotes a circular economy project to encourage the use of recycled aggregates from construction

The Habitat and Efficient Construction Cluster, AEICE, is leading a project to promote the consumption of recycled aggregates from construction in Valladolid among companies in the sector. This is Ecocivil, a circular economy initiative financed by the City Council of the city of Valladolid through the Agency for Innovation and Economic Development.
The aim is to bring the circular economy closer to citizens, to support training and to make practical applications of it known to economic sectors.
AEICE is developing a catalogue and a guide for companies on the use of recycled aggregates, which will be distributed between October and November.
Consumption of recycled aggregates
«The capacity of the industries of Valladolid to consume recycled aggregates is still very large, since only 30% of what the five plants in the area of influence of Valladolid can produce is used,» said the cluster’s director, Enrique Cobreros.
The current consumption of recycled aggregates in the area is around 70,000 tonnes per year, while the five plants have a production capacity of more than 230,000. Valladolid City Council consumes a total of 45,000 tonnes per year.
The typology of recycled aggregates in Valladolid is: recycled concrete aggregates, mixed concrete recycling, mixed ceramic recycling and mixed soil recycling.
The Association of Construction and Demolition Waste Managers of Castilla y León (Agerdcyl), the Association of Technical Engineers of Public Works of Castilla y León, and the company Cemosa collaborate with AEICE in the development of this project.
